The Mission Statement of Mandarin Chinese Now
China is not just a country, it is a whole different world with the richness of more than 40 centuries of civilization. The world has become a much smaller place in the 21st century, yet the roles of our students in a global community have undoubtedly grown larger. Because language and culture are inseparable, Mandarin Chinese Now sees its task as endowing our students not only with the knowledge of Chinese to explore its culture and its importance in world economy, but also the skills to lead their own generation to a true global citizenship in the near future.
Mandarin Chinese Now seeks to foster in its students a solid foundation of the Chinese language skills: the ability to read, write, and speak Mandarin Chinese fluently; the curiosity to explore China to broaden their world view by comparing Chinese cultural products, practices, and perspectives with those of their own society; and the appreciation of the value of a global education.
